I never did see the end, or if the battle ever really took place, or if Godzilla finally beat Mothra, but in the final act, the ipad vs laptop battle can really only have one conclusion; the laptop is destined for the rubbish heap. Not quite yet however. With no USB port, the ipad 2 has some serious flaws. Still the writing is on the wall and with Goliaths such as HP running for cover out of the consumer electronics business, the end for the laptop is near. For now though, many users will be seriously inconvenienced by the ipad 2’s flaws to abandon that laptop.
iPad VS Laptop
There will always be a large contingent that just cannot stomach the Apple operating system or its Smurflike presentation of the Apple way of doing things. It may come down to something like dog lovers as opposed to cat lovers. They both will always have their place. But the main thing about the ipad vs laptop rivalry is the software and the way that it works with the hardware. Microsoft Windows based computing will most likely have to morph into tablet form. The ipad vs laptop battle is a losing one, or soon to be, for the PC market.
The goal of the laptop form factor has always been to get more and more powerful and functional while getting smaller and more portable. That is why the laptop’s ultimate destiny is to adopt the form of the tablet. This will likely take a few more years to transpire as the Windows based computers just can’t handle that transition at the current level of portable technology. With no SD slots on the ipad 2 and a camera that hasn’t thrilled many critics, there is still some time for the laptop to thrive.
The ipad vs laptop is an amazing development for Apple and their aficionados. That they could have achieved this domination of the computer industry with tablet computers as their weapon is truly remarkable. Still, in this year of 2011 and for the near future, the laptop can not yet be replaced for many users due to the things that must be left out to squeeze all of that technology into the tablet size. If it is a choice between the iPad and the laptop, many users must, of necessity, take its bigger, clunkier rival. Just the lack of a USB port alone is a smack in the eye for users that need to interface with their flash drive, printers and a myriad of other gadgets they rely upon.
iPad VS Laptop – The Conclusion
The lack of 4G support in the ipad2 is perhaps a relatively small peccadillo. The laptop offers the hands on experience that many Windows based computer users prefer; like the guy that likes to tinker with the carburetor, PC users love to go in and mess with the software settings. They like the useful feeling of running the defrag, virus, registry and the other utilities, the feeling that they are the handyman, Mr. Fix-it. But in the final analysis, the ipad vs laptop is no contest.
